Signs and Symptoms

Osteoporosis itself has no symptoms; its main consequence is the increased risk of bone fractures.

Its major causes are:

  • Female gender
  • Thin and small body frame
  • Family history
  • Lack of exercise
  • Cigarette smoking
  • Poor nutrition
  • Malabsorption
