Max Cochlear Implant & BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid)
Programme |
|
Cochlear implant is a bionic device that restores hearing in children and adults who have lost hearing in both ears. Children born with profound deafness have an excellent chance of growing up into normal adults with good hearing and speech, if implanted before 3 years of age. Adults who have lost all hearing in both ears due to infections or trauma or unknown reasons, do extremely well with cochlear implantation and are able to resume all their responsibilities after surgery. The surgery takes between 2 to 4 hours, is totally safe and requires 1 to 2 night hospital stay. The procedure lasts between 2 to 4 hours. At MAX, we have all the experience and expertise to carry out cochlear implantation.
BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid) is an ingenious device to restore hearing in patients who have lost hearing on one side, people with conductive and mixed hearing losses not able to use conventional hearing aids and children born with outer ear anomalies like Microtia. It is the only treatment option for Acoustic Neuroma patients who have lost hearing on one side, caused by pathology or surgery. MAX is amongst very few centres in India to offer BAHA surgery.
Max CI & BAHA team, comprising of Surgeons, Audiologists, Audiology Scientists, Speech therapists and dedicated nurses, working with Physicians, Paediatricians, Plastic Surgeons, Neurosurgeons and Anaesthetists to provide comprehensive care for patients. |

Max Endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery and endoscopic skull base
surgery programme |
|
Endoscopic sinus surgery - also called endoscopy or sinoscopy - is a procedure used to remove blockages in the sinuses (the spaces filled with air in some of the bones of the skull). These blockages cause sinusitis, a condition in which the sinuses swell and become clogged, causing pain and impaired breathing.
The procedure requires no incisions on the face but utilizes "telescopes" which are long thin rods of glass wrapped with stainless steel providing illumination and visualization in the nose and sinus pathways. Instruments that have been designed solely for the purpose of FESS are used alongside the telescopes to perform the operation. The purpose of the operation is to enlarge the drainage pathways of the sinuses thereby preventing the build-up of mucus and pus in the sinuses so common in chronic sinusitis.
Endoscopic sinus surgery is used to treat diverse conditions like Sinusitis, Deviated nasal septum, Polyps, and tumours.
The operation may be performed under general or local anesthesia with sedation. Your doctor's preference may vary depending on your particular situation. You may wish to speak with him more regarding this.
The operation may take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours depending on the extent of surgery that is required. An overnight hospital stay is sometimes required.
Endoscopic repair of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks via a transnasal approach has proven to be effective and safe. CSF rhinorrhea is a well-known complication of neurosurgical procedures in the anterior cranial fossa.
At Max Healthcare, endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery is a major thrust area for the department of E.N.T. The team of E.N.T.Surgeons works along with Physicians, Neurosurgeons, Anaesthesiologists and Radiologists to provide comprehensive care to our patients. |
