Clinical Directorate

A patient came to Dr. Hitesh at Max Saket from Hisar. Gradually, he had lost his ability to eat or drink. Since then, he was on PEG feeding, a surgical procedure for placing feeding tube. Having consulted many doctors for his syndrome and having encountered many difficulties, his confidence started deteriorating.

He approached Dr. Hitesh Gupta in Jan'14 after he had come across a few published articles on swallowing management by Dr. Hitesh.

On evaluating him, Dr. Hitesh observed that his swallowing muscles were almost dead as he had not exercised them for over 7 years. This kind of case had never come up in his career and so, it was quite challenging for him to treat the patient with a chronic dysphagia (swallowing problem). Moreover, there were no reported incidences of recovery for such medical conditions. But he was optimistic and counselled the patient to undergo the dysphagia management therapy.

After 5 months of regular rehabilitation, it was a miracle when the patient recovered completely and achieved full ability to swallow. Today, Dr. Hitesh shares this experience and gives hope and motivation to other patients.
