Overview

Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) refers to methods used to achieve pregnancy by artificial means in the lab. Techniques include InVitro Fertilization(IVF), Intrauterine Insemination(IUI), Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection(ICSI).

Overview

Assisted Hatching is a new lab technique that was developed when fertility experts observed that embryos with a thin egg shell layer had a higher rate of implantation during IVF. In assisted hatching, an embryologist uses micromanipulation under a microscope to create a small hole in the outer egg shell layer (zona pellucida). This is done either by drilling a hole through it or by thinning it, which promotes hatching or implantation of embryos that are unable to escape intact from eggs’ outer covering.

Overview

Usually, following IVF or ICSI embryo transfer is performed on day 2 or day3 embryo. Improvements in culture techniques have allowed selective growth of embryos to blastocyst, i.e. embryo age of five or six days. Thus natural selection by leaving embryos in culture for longer time allows selection of more robust embryo with better implantation rate.

Overview

This ensures a safe ICSI that prevents DNA damage at the time of sperm needle injection; thereby, increasing the pregnancy rate. Also, quantification of eggs’ outer covering thickness can help assess further techniques to increase pregnancy rate.

Overview

Absence of sperms in ejaculate or absent ejaculate needs intervention under anaesthesia to obtain sperms by any of the following- Micro surgical epididymal sperm aspiration (MESA) Percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA) Testicular sperm aspiration (TESA) Testicular sperm extraction (TESE) (Testicular biopsy)

Real People, Real Stories

"mark my words, you will click this time"

I have been married for 8 years and I was diagnosed with PCOS after about 3 years of marriage. Since we were not planning for the baby, we didn't care much at that time. Apart from PCOS, I did not suffer with any symptoms like high sugar or overweight etc. But as my studies got completed, we were serious enough for the family planning.

I went to clinic of one of the best doctors of India in Delhi. That was the most horrible experience I gained. I underwent IUI there and after pathetic service (for them, we were not patients but atm cards which will earn them as much money as many patients they quickly see, hence giving no extra time and care to each patient), I never thought of going back there again.

Then I underwent 2 more iui's when I was on a trip abroad which were again unsuccesful. After coming back to India, I was referred to a gynecologist in Noida. After regular tests and scans, she referred me to Dr. Bhavna Banga referring her as an enthusiastic doctor.

We visited her in Max patparganj in 2015. I liked the way she listened to me & made me understand things clearly. Unlike other infertility doctors, she did not emphasize in IVF, but gave us three options of treatment to follow. But somehow I had always believed that I would be able to conceive naturally. So I asked my husband to give a little break from the treatment and medications. One more year passed without success, and now we decided for the treatment again. I was so impressed by Dr. Bhavna Banga in the first visit that I had decided if ever I took treatment, it would be her only.

So I went back to her in May 2016. And to save time, it was our decision to go for IVF. Having been through all the necessary tests in first month, Doctor put us on some medication as a first step. She was abroad in between but still managed the dates of treatment. She was always there on whatsapp if I ever had any query. And finally I conceived in July & am 3 months pregnant now.

I have so many incidents during treatment where I always felt that she was first a great human being before a doctor, understanding both the complexities of human emotions as well as medications. We never got disappointed at any stage of our treatment. The very special thing about her is that she values our time as much as hers. She neither gives extra hopes nor she makes you morally down, just exact combination of truth and hopefulness.

During my treatment, she said to me "mark my words, you will click this time". And it is her hard work, passion and beautiful heart which makes her successful for herself as well proves blessings to the couples like us. May God give her greater heights of success and prosperity without losing her golden touch with the humanity.

His arrival has given us new hopes!

Its been over a month and we still can’t take our eyes off our little bundle; feels like a dream! We’ve wished & prayed for nearly 12 years to have the opportunity of parenthood. Having attempted 6 IVF procedures under various Doctors, none of which gave us joy, we had nearly lost hope. It had been a long arduous struggle for us - keeping hope before each cycle, trying to stay positive and then getting to know that our attempt failed. Nothing seemed to work and nothing seemed to heal our pain. We came to you with this emotional baggage and much less hope that things would change. It was your cheerful yet empathetic approach that gave us strength to try again! While we could picture the series of tests, medication & more so feelings that lay ahead of us, your friendly encouraging tone made the process so much easier. We hadn‘t come across any Doctor in the past who would give the patient a comforting hug -be it good news or bad. With endless doubts in our mind, you patiently answered every query and at the end of the consultation still asked “Aur kuch puchna hai”. Being available to respond to queries on the phone or text, meant a great deal . It always felt that you understood what was going on in our mind. Your personal touch made all the difference! We were lucky to come to you for our 7th attempt and with that bring home our baby – Arush. The name means – the first ray of sun. Just like a new day, his arrival has given us new hopes, new desires and a whole new meaning to the world around us. No words are enough to express our gratitude for what you’ve given us – a gift of a lifetime! We’d also like to thank your team at Max who were ever so helpful. Would like to mention Ms. Kanchan Dang for all the pleasant interactions!

With our humble thank you, we wish you more success in your work that can bring happiness in more lives!
