Conditions & Treatments

Overview

Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) refers to methods used to achieve pregnancy by artificial means in the lab. Techniques include InVitro Fertilization(IVF), Intrauterine Insemination(IUI), Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection(ICSI).

Overview

Assisted Hatching is a new lab technique that was developed when fertility experts observed that embryos with a thin egg shell layer had a higher rate of implantation during IVF. In assisted hatching, an embryologist uses micromanipulation under a microscope to create a small hole in the outer egg shell layer (zona pellucida). This is done either by drilling a hole through it or by thinning it, which promotes hatching or implantation of embryos that are unable to escape intact from eggs’ outer covering.

Overview

Usually, following IVF or ICSI embryo transfer is performed on day 2 or day3 embryo. Improvements in culture techniques have allowed selective growth of embryos to blastocyst, i.e. embryo age of five or six days. Thus natural selection by leaving embryos in culture for longer time allows selection of more robust embryo with better implantation rate.

Overview

This ensures a safe ICSI that prevents DNA damage at the time of sperm needle injection; thereby, increasing the pregnancy rate. Also, quantification of eggs’ outer covering thickness can help assess further techniques to increase pregnancy rate.

Overview

Absence of sperms in ejaculate or absent ejaculate needs intervention under anaesthesia to obtain sperms by any of the following- Micro surgical epididymal sperm aspiration (MESA) Percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA) Testicular sperm aspiration (TESA) Testicular sperm extraction (TESE) (Testicular biopsy)

Dear Dr. Bhavna,
There are no words to describe how grateful we are for everything you have done for us. It has been 3 yrs. of our marriage; we have been trying for baby. After meeting you we got a ray of hope of having complete family.
Being halfway through this pregnancy already seems so surreal to us, and we feel blessed and grateful every day that we are able to go through this amazing journey because of you and your care. You have been very kind, honest and professional through this process. My case was not the easy one but you handled it with great efforts.
I truly believe that your expertise, knowledge and willingness to be flexible are what brought us to where we are today. We are very happy to be expecting a healthy baby very soon and this was not possible without your efforts.
Thanks from the bottom of our heart for everything you and your staff has done for us.

What should we call the person who helps a women become a mother?

It’s said that God could not be everywhere thus he created Mother, but I am still wondering what should we call the person who helps a women become a mother. Dr. Bhavna is that person in my life.

Since teenage, I had complaints of irregular or prolonged periods and every time my weight was given as a reason to that. Before few days to my marriage, I visited a Gynae and she asked me about my marriage and upon knowing it to be happening soon, she advised me not to delay planning for the baby.

After 1 year to my marriage, we started planning for the baby but somewhere I was afraid of some problem with my fertility and was scared of not being able to conceive a baby ever.

Two years passed like that with us trying to have a baby, with each missed period there came a hope of might being pregnant which eventually gets lost with the negative HPT. Then I visited my family Gynae and she advised me to visit some infertility specialist in NCR as my eggs were not matured enough to even try to conceive and mine was a case of PCOS.

With the help of Google and because of my past good experience with Max Hospital, I searched for infertility specialist and it ended with the name on my Screen Dr. Bhavna Banga.

We first visited her in Aug’15 and I was bit scared as it was my first such experience and I was trying to avoid the situation where I may be termed as infertile to conceive a baby. But, the meeting with her gave me a hope of becoming a mother someday. The best thing about her is in spite of having so many patients and a hectic schedule, she is never in hurry and gives proper time to each and every patient. Same happened with us as well, our first meeting lasted for 30 mins and we came out with a plan of action to follow starting with some basic tests.

After few cycles and taking some medications, we were not getting required results because of me being a case of dense PCOD. After 6-8 cycles, Dr. Bhavna asked me about going for either an IUI or an IVF and told me in detail about the cost, the %age success rate and other details.

We finally decided to go for IVF as I didn’t want to lose any further time. My 1st cycle of IVF started in April’16, with proper medications and monitoring, we were able to get good quality follicles and the retrieval was scheduled. To my surprise (and Dr. Bhavna as well), we got 8 Blastocysts after 5-day blastocyst culture. I still remember when Dr. Bhavna said “If you don’t get pregnant with these many blastocysts, I am not sure who will be”.

She was always more confident than me during the whole procedure. This was not the end of the problem, when we were planning the transfer, at one instance a polyp developed into my uterus and I had to go through the procedure to remove it. After that, my blood results showed high sugar levels which was again a risk. Finally, in July’16 the transfer was planned with everything in good shape and 2 blastocysts were transferred. During the whole procedure, tears were coming out of my eyes and I was breathing heavily thinking- what will happen if it didn’t workedL

But, again Dr. Bhavna assured me of getting pregnant and not to be tensed about it as I have more eggs freezed in store.

Before the day when my blood test (HCG) was scheduled I got a message from Dr. Bhavna asking me to do a HPT in morning, that shows how much she cares about her patients and not only us, she is equally concerned about the outcome. Finally with God’s grace and Dr. Bhavna’s commitment, my test came positive and my pregnancy was confirmed. Dr. Bhavna sounded more excited than me upon hearing this news which brought tears into my eyesJ. I am into my second trimester now and my baby is doing great, it all happened because of Dr. Bhavna. I can’t express my gratitude towards her in words and mere thanks would not be enough for what she has done for us. Can only say” SHE IS JUST THE BEST”.
