Before Holi

    • Apply a thick layer of moisturiser, petroleum jelly or coconut oil on your face and other exposed parts to keep the skin greasy and slippery preventing colors from settling down deep in the skin.
    • Apply a thick coat of sunscreen to prevent the sunburns as the sun is usually harsh with a high UV index this time of the year.
    • Wear glasses instead of contact lenses. Do not apply any kind of makeup while playing colours. Applying olive oil around the eyes will help one to remove the color easily.
    • Harsh Colors may damage your hair. Apply coconut or olive oil through the hair to prevent damage from the harsh colors. Do not leave your hair open. Tie it into a ponytail or a bun and cover your head with a scarf .
    • Protect you nails and surrounding skin area by applying thick coat of nail paint .
    • Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water or clear fluids.

After Holi

  • Don’t use very hot water for taking bath, this will dehydrate your skin and will increase the chances of skin rashes and irritation. Prefer lukewarm water.
  • Avoid excessive scrubbing to remove colors. Scrubbing damages the skin more.
  • For hard colours, apply generous amount of cleansing milk all over the body, wait for 3-5 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water.
  • Rub lemon wedges over your skin. The natural bleaching agent in lemons helps to remove the sturdy stains which otherwise doesn’t go away easily.
  • After the bath, apply a generous amount of skin healing cream or a soft moisturizer all over the body to help the skin heal.
  • Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water or clear fluids.
