False Miscarriage: Understanding The Signs And Seeking Medical Attention
However, sometimes what seems like a miscarriage is actually a "false miscarriage". A false miscarriage occurs when a woman shows all the signs of a miscarriage, such as vaginal bleeding and cramping, but the pregnancy is still viable. Here are some signs of false miscarriage that women should watch out for:
- Lack of Visible Pregnancy Tissue:One of the main signs of a false miscarriage is that there is no visible pregnancy tissue passed during the bleeding. If a woman is experiencing vaginal bleeding but there is no pregnancy tissue visible, it could be a sign of a false miscarriage.
- Fetal Heartbeat:If the fetus has a heartbeat during an ultrasound, then the pregnancy is viable, and it is not a true miscarriage. However, it is possible for a woman to have a low fetal heartbeat, which may indicate a high-risk pregnancy.
- HCG Levels:Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) levels in the blood are used to confirm a pregnancy. If the HCG levels are increasing or remain high, it is a good indication that the pregnancy is still viable.
- Reduced Symptoms:If a woman is experiencing pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and breast tenderness, and then suddenly they disappear, it could be a sign of a false miscarriage. However, it is also possible for symptoms to disappear in a healthy pregnancy.
- Slow Rising HCG Levels:If the HCG levels are rising, but at a slow rate, it may indicate a high-risk pregnancy, but it is not necessarily a sign of a true miscarriage.
If a woman suspects she is having a false miscarriage, it is important to seek medical attention right away. A doctor will be able to perform an ultrasound and other tests to determine whether the pregnancy is viable or not. In some cases, a doctor may recommend bed rest and close monitoring to ensure the safety of the pregnancy.
It is important for women to understand that experiencing a false miscarriage can be a traumatic experience, just like a true miscarriage. It is important to seek support from loved ones and medical professionals during this time.
