Step1: Stand before a mirror. Clasp hands behind your head and press hands forward while watching closely the level of the nipples, any nipple retraction or dimpling of skin anywhere on the breast.
Step2: Press hands firmly on hips and bow slightly towards the mirror as you pull your shoulders and elbows forward and look for the same things as in Step 1.
Step3: Use fingers of your right hand to feel for any unusual lump.
Step4: Repeat the exam on your right breast.
Step5: Gently squeeze each nipple and look for a discharge.
Step6: Lie down and repeat steps 3 and 5.
