Overview

  • HIPEC is a highly concentrated, heated chemotherapy treatment that is delivered directly to the abdomen during surgery. The surgery is called as “Cytoreductive Surgery” in which all the visually affected parts of the abdominal cavity are removed which includes Ovaries,  Uterus, Omentum, Peritoneum, Appendix etc. After this the abdominal cavity is washed with heated chemotherapy solution to take care of the microscopic disease also. In this way the patient is made tumor free.
  • To reduce the chances of the cancer recurrence these patients are later given systemic chemotherapy.
  • Increases the overall survival of the patient as well as the disease free survival of these patients.
