Myth#1.I should wait as long as possible to undergo knee replacement surgery”

Arthroscopy is derived from 2 Greek words, ‘Arthros’ meaning ‘Joints’ and ‘Scope’ meaning ‘to see’. In simple terms, we can define arthroscopy as visualizing interior of human joints through a camera. All human joints allow a safe insertion of 4mm camera and instruments at strategic points, thereby allowing surgeons to see and repair the damaged issue.

What are the Advantages of Arthroscopy?

What do you know about Osteoarthritis?

One-tenth of the population over 55 years is affected with osteoarthritis of knee. Though it is a common problem in older people but a major concern of pain and disability. Apart from osteoarthritis, conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, seronegative arthritis, posttraumatic arthritis and malignant tumour conditions of the knee joint also cause severe morbidity to patients.

Have you thought on a training plan to decide how will you measure your health and fitness levels? Do you know what is driving you to run? Introspect and make goals. Remember to warm up!  Do not give up if you feel exhausted just after 10minutes. Relax and breathe deeply. Begin your run is by jogging, doing simple stretches and relaxing your muscles.

It not only gives rise to unsightly deformity and limp, but also has potential to damage the knee in long term. Such knees develop early arthritis in later age. One of the common reasons for the deformity in early childhood is dietary deficiency of vitamin D, but in older children, more often than not the cause cannot be found.

Can knock knee deformity correct by itself?

One of the leading causes of disability seen amongst people is Arthritis. It worsens with age. Moreover, it is associated with 120 different diseases that can affect muscles, joints and other tissues.

Age related arthritis is the most common, which is often experienced around the knee (called as osteoarthritis of knee). The known forms are:

With exercise and proper nutrition, you can build your bone strength, hold off or even prevent the development of osteoporosis. Bones form the framework of your body, so keeping them strong and healthy is essential to maintaining overall health and well-being. Exercising right can make your bones stronger. Strengthening and weight-bearing exercises promote strong bones and healthy joints.

Surgery is sometimes required to treat a fracture. The type of treatment for fracture required depends on the severity of the break, whether it is "open" or "closed," and the specific bone involved. For example, a broken bone in the spine (vertebra) is treated differently from a broken leg bone or a broken hip.

Your joints, including those in your knuckles, are surrounded by a membrane called the synovial membrane, which forms a capsule around the ends of your bones. Inside this membrane is synovial fluid, which acts as a lubricant and shock absorber so your bones don’t grind together when you move. When you crack your knuckles or any other joint, it expands the space between your bones, creating negative pressure that draws synovial fluid into the new gap.
