I am an Ophthalmologist practicing for more than the last 30 years. Recently I had an opportunity to be on the "other side " i.e a patient. I would like to share my experience as a patient.
After 48 hours of severe pain abdomen & vomiting , I was diagnosed as having gallstones .Surgery , I was told , is a must. At that stage there was no question in our mind as to who should be the surgeon. Our family physician & freind Dr. Surender Chadha told us that the best person is Dr. Pradeep Chowbey. He also told us that Dr. Chowbey was now at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket. Not only that , he very kindly made phone calls & fixed us an appointment that very day. He asked us to meet Ms Aenu Batra at the 5th floor of the east block & said that she would help us out. Two hours later , we were there. I was still very much in pain & feeling extremely ill. I can't say how very helpful & kind Ms Batra was right from the moment we arrived there , to the day I had gone for suture removal & follow up. She was there at every step to help us out.On my first visit , when I was feeling dehydrated & sick , she gave me lemon tea which made me feel so much better.Although there was no bed available till a week later , she assured us that she would call in case a bed was vacant earlier - & sure enough we got a call two days later.
