Thyroid: Symptoms, Causes & Diagnosis By Dr Anjana Bhan - DocTalk

Apr 5, 2018

In this video, Dr Anjana Bhan, Senior Consultant at Max Hospital Panchsheel Park explains what thyroid is and what its symptoms, causes and methods of diagnosis. The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of the neck and is governed by the pituitary gland, which is the master gland in the brain. The pituitary gland secretes TSH which produces T3 & T4 hormones. It also controls a lot of body functions, such as reproductive functions, energy levels, metabolism, lipid levels etc. According to Dr Anjana, there can be many problems related to thyroid but the most common and prevalent one is the underactive thyroid which called hypothyroidism, in which T3 and T4 are less and TSH is high.
