Apr 27, 2018

In this video, Dr Vivek Singh, Associate Director – Pulmonology & Head Lung Transplant Medicine at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket gives an overview about lung transplantation, diseases that are treated with this procedure and more. Lung transplantation is a process wherein the diseased lungs are removed and replaced by a new set of good functioning lungs. The source of the organ for the lung transplant is a cadaveric donor, unlike live donors in liver or kidney transplant. Dr Singh says, “It is a process which can be offered to patients who have end-stage lung diseases. Other medical therapies are either failing on these patients or no medical therapies are available. The major diseases for which lung transplantation can be offered are interstitial lung disease or pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, pulmonary arterial hypertension and certain other rare diseases like Lymphangioleiomyomatosis or pulmonary histiocytosis.” At Max, we have a state-of-the-art lung transplant program with a fully trained and dedicated team who have the max values of sevabhav imbibed in them. Because, at Max, we are eager to get you home.
