Simulation based medical education is defined as any educational activitythat utilizes simulation aides to replicate clinical scenarios. Althoughmedical simulation is relatively new, simulation has been used for a longtime in other high risk professions such as aviation. COURSES FOR SUPPORT STAFF

Max Emergency Life Saving (CPR) course

To provide basic emergency life support skills that are easy to apply in real world emergency situations. The participants will learn how to recognize a life-threatening emergency, how to provide immediate life support and what to do in the case of an airway obstruction or choking.

Course Description

The Course provides practical user-friendly information to train laypersons in the skills of adult, child and infant CPR.

Duration : 4 hours

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize the signs of a cardiac arrest.
  • Learn how to give CPR to an adult and infant whose heart has stopped beating.
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of a breathing emergency.
  • Learn how to care for an adult and infant who stops breathing.

Aims of the course:

At the end of the workshop, the candidate will be:

  1. Able to recognize the seriousness and nature [medical/ trauma /environmental] of any emergency and communicate it to the emergency team.
  2. Will be well conversant with all the contents in the first aid / trauma kit and optimal utilization of the contents for improving victim survival.

Objective of the course:

At the end of the workshop, the candidate will be able to:

  1. Perform assessment of the scene safety for himself, victim and the bystanders.
  2. Demonstrate activation of Emergency services as appropriate
  3. Demonstrate use of appropriate personal protective precautions [PPP] for infection control.
  4. Recognize the need for performing CPR in adult, child & infant
  5. Perform good quality CPR to cardiac arrest victims of all age
  6. Demonstrate appropriate first aid to trauma emergencies e.g major and minor bleeding control, application of splints, immobilizing the patient , care of amputated limbs , burns etc
  7. Perform correct lifting and moving of a trauma patient
  8. Recognize signs and provide appropriate first aid of life threatening medical emergencies e.g cardiac emergencies, breathing emergencies, acute allergic reactions, shock etc
  9. Recognize signs and provide appropriate first aid of life threatening environmental emergencies e.g bites and stings, poisoning, heat and cold emergencies, drowning etc
  10. Report the attended emergency to appropriate authority and emergency team.

Methodology:

The training will be delivered by experienced American Heart Association certified Instructors.

The Student: Instructor Ratio will be kept 10:1 to ensure adequate interaction and supervision of students. Language of instruction will be English.

The training methodology used will consist of a combination of:

This course is designed to assist the student in developing expertise and in-depth understanding in the field of Obstetric Nursing .It will help the student to develop advanced nursing skills for nursing interventions in various obstetrical conditions.
