Overview:

Course Objectives:

The curriculum is designed to train fellows to become experts in the Clinical Management Of Infectious Diseases in the critical care setting. There are high rates of infection, antibiotic use and antibiotic resistance in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), which underscores the need to train infectious diseases specialists to work with critically ill and complex patients in order to drive antimicrobial stewardship and infection control in this setting.

At The Completion Of Training The Fellow Should Be Able To:

  • Diagnose and manage serious infections appropriately and in a timely manner, resulting in improved outcomes of critically ill patients,

Program Objective
The one year fellowship program will involve the clinical training of fellow in the management of bone and soft tissue tumors. The fellow will be stationed at Max Hospital, Saket, attached to the musculoskeletal surgical oncology unit. He/ She will be expected to do ward rounds, attend tumor board meetings/ outpatient clinics/ specialty clinics/ (ORPs) orthopedic- radiology- pathology meetings, seminars and journal clubs and perform minor and major surgical procedures.

The fellowship curriculum is designed in a way that by the end of one year program, the fellow should be competent enough to do all initial evaluation, staging, and work up of a patient with suspected bone/ soft tissue tumor. Fellow should also be able to perform minor surgical procedures independently involved in the care of a patient with bone and soft tissue tumors. Breast Surgery Fellowship

Program Objective
Breast disease represents a conundrum of conditions ranging from benign breast diseases to breast cancer. The challenge is to identify when the seemingly innocuous benign breast condition may actually be a harbinger of malignancy. This program aims to hone your clinical skills in differentiating the benign from malignant; to sharpen your ability to not stop investigating when the clinical index of suspicion is high. The emphasis will be on TRIPLE ASSESSMENT, wherein a good clinical examination, imaging and needle biopsy will form the backbone to clinching the diagnosis. Staging the disease followed by appropriate multidisciplinary management will then follow.
This program will take you through this process of diagnosis, staging, a multidisciplinary tumor board discussion to formulate the plan for management, conveying the same to the patient in a coherent manner and hand holding them through the process which can last fro a few months to a year.
It is important for the fellow to approach this program with an open mind and absorb all the key aspects of delivery of care. He or she is encouraged to share his or her ideas and suggest methods to improve care, especially by asking a research question, which he or she may attempt to answer during the course of his or her stay.

Program Objective

The goal of Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship is to optimally prepare surgeons-in-training to render contemporary, compassionate and responsible care for all pathologies afflicting the hand, wrist, while inspiring the fellow to give back to the specialty through engagement in scientific inquiry and practice as a life-long learner and teacher.

Fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology

Program Objective
To fully learn the indications, contraindications, risks, limitations, sensitivity, specificity, predictive accuracy, and appropriate techniques for the evaluation of patients with a wide variety of rhythm disorders including:

  • Sinus node dysfunctions
  • AV and intra-ventricular block
  • Supra-ventricular arrhythmias
  • Ventricular arrhythmias
  • Clinical conditions including unexplained syncope, aborted sudden death palpitations, WPW syndrome, Long QT syndrome
  • Conditions leading to non-pharmacologic modalities of arrhythmia therapy (e.g. ablation, ICD implantation, surgery).

The content will be gained during educational conferences and teaching rounds, outpatient longitudinal clinic experience, outpatient/inpatient consultations, pacemaker clinic, ICD clinic, care of patients before, during and after electrophysiologic studies, preoperative and postoperative arrhythmia management, and by the performance and analysis of noninvasive and invasive tests, including electrophysiologic studies, electrocardiography, therapeutic electrophysiologic procedures, pacemaker implantation, defibrillator implantation, and arrhythmia surgery. By the time of completion of training, the fellow will be expected to have become highly proficient in all aspects of clinical cardiac electrophysiology. In addition, the fellow will formulate a research hypothesis and design and perform a research project to test all hypotheses.

FHNO Head and Neck Fellowship

There is vast heterogeneity in standard of care of head and neck cancers in India and abroad. FHNO( Foundation of head and neck oncology), is a cornerstone foundation and an active body to oversee the standards of care, education and research for such a significant health problem of the country.

The goal of FHNO HN Fellowship is to provide structured and didactic training in all aspects relevant to research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of head and neck cancers, with specific emphasis on hands-on surgical training in head and neck oncology and contemporary reconstruction. The program has well balanced and integrated clinical and academic aspects.

The fellowship will involve entrance examination, 2 years of resident program with periodic evaluations as the program progresses, and exit examination. Pertinent details can be found in the attachments. Upon successful completion of the exit examination a certificate will be issued by FHNO recognizing the satisfactory completion of the course, and passing the examination.

The fellowship will have two paths for training with different curricula, according to the primary qualification of the candidates. The fellows with Maxillofacial background will be trained for “FHNO Oral Oncology Fellowship” and will be awarded certificate for “Oral Oncology”. The fellows with other background will be trained for “FHNO Head & Neck Fellowship” and will be awarded certificate for “Head & Neck Oncology”.
