Mrs. Jyotsana was rather anxious in the 33rd week of her pregnancy when she had felt no foetal movement for the past two days. She was rushed to Max, where she was prepared for an emergency C-section under the vigilance of Dr. Astha Agrawal, Senior Consultant, Paediatrics. The baby was born pre-term and diagnosed with IUGR. The baby had to be resuscitated and was kept under CPAP. During the second week, the baby developed NEC and was put on TPN. Risks of sepsis and Hypoglycemia were looming large but were tackled well. Irrespective of the initial challenges and the long stay in the NICU, the baby’s health stabilised and renewed in the sixth week. Today, Mrs. Jyotsana’s baby is fully healthy and living a normal life.
