Mr. Ravi Varma had a swelling in the submandibular gland, which was progressing towards infection. Mr. Varma was somewhat apprehensive about the treatment options offered at other clinics. He consulted Dr. Sumit Mrig, Associate Director and Head, ENT, who detected the presence of multiple large stones and dilation in the submandibular gland. The patient was advised sialendoscopy, in which an incision is made internally on the floor of the mouth to remove the stones. The surgery was successful in removing the stones without affecting the gland, and the patient’s post-op recovery was smooth.
