Revision bilateral TKR with No Mobility from the first TKR done outside

A 63-year-old female came to Max Super Speciality Hospital, Shalimar Bagh with severe knee pain, and the patient was bedridden last year. The patient was operated on 1.5 years back outside for bilateral knee joint replacement. The patient walked well for six months, and then she was bedridden because of severe pain in both the knees and deformity.

On examination, it was detected that both tibial implants were loose and mal-aligned. The patient was severely osteoporotic, and there was a fragmentation of the upper medial tibia that was caused of loosening and mal-alignment of the tibial component. The Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) of the patient was -2.7.

After a thorough assessment, the patient was posted for surgery. Revision bilateral tibial component with an interference fit stem extension on both sides done. Constrained poly on both sides put. In the post-operative period, the next day (in less than 24 hours) of surgery patient was made to walk with a walker and sit on a standard chair commode. The patient was given injections post-operative to take care of osteoporosis and was discharged in stable condition.
