Overview of Robotic Surgery by Dr Dinesh Singhal - DocTalk

Apr 23, 2018

In this video, Dr. Dinesh Singhal, Director and Head (Dept. of Surgical Gastroenterology) at Max Hospital Saket explains Robotic Surgery. It is a precision surgery that utilises specifically designed medical robots to perform complex surgeries. According to Dr. Dinesh, it is important to note that it is the surgeon who controls and operates the robot and performs the operation. There are several attributes of the robot that translate into simplified and highly precise GI surgery. The robot provides a magnified, superior 3-Dimensional vision. Its mechanical arms eliminate tremor and fatigue and replicate the movement of human wrists completely. These attributes are also helpful during secure knotting, suturing and reconstruction. During robotic surgery, a patient suffers less pain and experiences less blood loss. Shorter hospital stay is another advantage.
