In this video, Dr Vikas Goswami, (Medical Oncology) Senior Consultant at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali explains about Gastrointestinal Cancer, its symptoms, causes, treatment and methods of diagnosis. He explains that GI Cancer i.e. Gastrointestinal Cancer is amongst the top 5 cancers affecting our population. It’s a lifestyle disorder which is related to altered diet, tobacco, lack of sleep and exercise. The most common symptoms are weight loss, altered bowel habits, blood in stools, chronic indigestion. According to Dr Vikas, it is diagnosed by upper GI Endoscopy or Colonoscopy associated with biopsy. The treatment basically depends upon the stage of the disease and the tolerance of the patient. It is an integrated treatment. He and his whole team sit together and try to individualise the therapy based upon the stage of the patient and patient parameters.
