World obesity day:
Obesity is a major disorder prevailing in our country and involves an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity isn't just a cosmetic concern, it is a medical complication that can give birth to many life-threatening diseases. Being excessively obese will increase your risk of severe diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pain, sleep disorders, Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) & infertility, etc.

Rates of obesity are on the rise worldwide. Obesity causes severe damage to your body involving multiple organs that include heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas and so on. Thus, obesity needs to be treated before it results in irreversible changes in the functioning of these organs
This can be controlled by making a few dietary changes, increased physical activity and lifestyle modifications
Key factors that contribute to obesity:
Obesity is not a problem that occurs overnight. Many factors when practised regularly keep contributing to weight gain and obesity. Following are a few things that must be avoided to avoid obesity

Posture: Unhealthy posture can lead to neck and back pain. A standard level of physical fitness is necessary to properly support the spine.
Aging- Changes in hormones and metabolism according to age can also contribute to obesity. With increasing age, body tissues can also cause changes to the spinal anatomy.
Stress: Stress is now part of our fast running life. With the rise in competition, stress is also increasing at the same pace. Insufficient sleep, depression also contributes a major part in obesity.
Weight loss surgery:
Bariatric surgical procedures or weight loss surgery procedure is an effective way that causes weight loss by restricting the amount of food your stomach can hold by a combination of both gastric restriction and malabsorption.
Most weight-loss surgeries today are performed using laparoscopy which is an easy, almost pain free and effective way to provide significant and sustained weight loss with resolution of obesity related problems. The patient is discharged from hospital in 2-3 days and can resume work in a week’s time.
Sometimes these procedures are performed for diabetes , dyslipidemis, sleep apnoea and polycystic ovaries, resulting in almost complete cute of the above named condition. So, it is also termed as Metabolic Surgery that tackles the metabolic issues of obesity
