India's first robotic surgery performed for treating sweaty palms
In a first-of-its-kind procedure, doctors at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, performed robotic surgery to permanently eliminate the issue of excessive sweating in a 24-year-old woman. This is the first time high-precision robotic surgery has been performed in India to treat the issue of excessive sweating.

Life-saving emergency Laparoscopic surgery for Perforation Peritonitis with Septicaemia
A 46-year-old male diabetic, hypertensive, hypothyroid patient, came to the emergency with severe pain in the right lower abdomen for 2 days. On examination, he had hypotension and tachycardia. On abdominal examination, distension and guarding rigidity were observed. The doctors had a suspicion of perforation peritonitis. The patient was immediately shifted for CT abdomen, which showed thickened and retrocecal appendix, with hyperdense intraluminal foci suggestive of appendicoliths, and there was marked adjacent fat stranding and thickening of peritoneal reflections

Internal Carotid Artery Aneurysm Treated by Endovascular Flow Diverter
A 67-year-old lady had complaints of progressive visual deterioration. On evaluation, she was found to have a giant left supraclinoid internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysm with a left middle cerebral artery (MCA) bifurcation bleb. Surgical clipping was tried for the aneurysm before at another hospital but was abandoned. She was referred to Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, for further management. She underwent Flow Diverter Placement with some coils in the aneurysm.

Robotic Abdominal Wall Reconstruction for complex Abdominal Hernia: Modern Hernia surgery
A middle-aged woman came to Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali, with abdominal wall swelling for the past 8 years, associated with increasing pain for last 3 months. She had undergone explorative laparotomy for intestinal perforation, followed by wound dehiscence 12 years back. On clinical examination, she was found to have multiple swiss cheese pattern defects in the midline from epigastrium to supra-pubic region, with bowel loop as contents in multiple hernia defects. She was optimised medically and investigated with Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography (CECT) Abdomen, to assess abdominal musculature and hernia anatomy in detail.

Successful Multivisceral Resection for advanced Colonic Cancer in a neglected Cachectic patient
A 60-year-old patient was diagnosed with hepatic flexure colonic adenocarcinoma with duodenal (1 st & 2 nd part) infiltration in December 2021. Initially, he received neoadjuvant chemotherapy, to which he responded partially. He then defaulted from treatment. Over time, his condition worsened with recurrent vomiting, poor oral intake and significant weight loss.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson’s Disease
A 47-year-old patient from Uzbekistan was evaluated in her country by Dr Amitabh Goel, Senior Director in the Department of Neurosurgery at Max Hospital Patparganj, Delhi. She had freezing of gait, along with extreme difficulty in walking and had to take 4 to 6 tablets of Syndopa Plus in one day to be able to complete her daily chores. Despite being on such high doses, she could not manage her household responsibilities. Initially, she used to improve after taking these tablets but was still dependent on others. Besides, for the last 6 to 8 months, the effect of this medication had also started waning.

Young patient with Pituitary Macroadenoma treated successfully
An 18-year-old male presented to the emergency with complaints of severe headache and multiple episodes of vomiting for 2 days. On initial assessment in the ER, he had a heart rate of 40 beats per minute. An urgent cardiac evaluation was done which was normal. His blood sugar level at the time of presentation was 85mg/dl for which 25% dextrose was started. In view of low blood sugar, despite dextrose administration, inj hydrocortisone was started and NCCT head was done which was normal.

TAVI with sentinel protection device
A 66-year-old male was admitted to Max Super Speciality Hospital, Shalimar Bagh. He had severe calcified aortic stenosis with LV dysfunction and was not a suitable candidate for surgical valve replacement. The cardiology team at Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, led by Dr Naveen Bhamri, Dr Devender Kumar Aggarwal and Dr Sudhansu Sekhar Parida, evaluated the case and performed Transcatheter aortic valve insertion (TAVI) with a sentinel protection device. It was the 16 th TAVI performed by the cardiology team and using the sentinel device this time.
