Nirmala Sinha was afflicted with Oral Cancer – Salivary Gland Tumour. Mrs. Sinha was previously opposed to tumour removal surgery in jaw, as it could potentially be detrimental to speech and communication. The family consulted Dr. Pawan Gupta, Director, Surgical Oncology, who evaluated the patient's case history and advised cancer removal surgery in which her jawbone was kept untouched. The surgery removed the outer and inner skin saving the jawbone. Her surgery was followed by plastic surgery under the supervision of Dr. Manoj Johar, Senior Director, Aesthetics & Reconstruction Surgery, which corrected the scars and distortion on the patient’s cheek. Post-surgery, Mrs. Sinha has been able to live a healthy, cancer-free life.
